Fourth of July Kvanefjeld tugtupite hike

The road to Kvanefjeld

 

 

We began our tugtupite trip by hiking most of the way up the hill on the road to an abandoned uranium mine. It wasn't bad but we were carrying backpacks with our collecting gear, rock hammers, UV lights, etc. They were light compared to our return trip many hours later! That's Storm Johnson hiking up. Note the large dark boulder field on the left, behind Storm. That's where we climbed up to look for sorensenite.
