The big rock pile at Tunuliarfik

 

 

 

Sharp pieces of sodalite invariably flew straight at my face while hammering. No lasting damage was done but simply wearing safety goggles wasn't quite enough. My black customized Land's End "squall coat" did a great job of keeping me comfortable out there. It features an embroidered NASA patch: it's the 2001 Mars Odyssey mission logo which I created several years ago (but that's another story). I purposely wore either black, dark green or dark brown while on our rock trips and sure enough, the dark colors kept me warm. I was also wearing a Greenland hat which I bought at the Narsaq tourist office.
