The weather gods were with us on the Kvanefjeld trip

 

 

Our base camp lay far below us in the valley. We were treated to beautiful Greenlandic summer scenery: in the background was Mt. Illimaussaq on the left and Naqallak on the right. We enjoyed perfect temperatures for hiking up to the 1,780 foot high tugtupite area on Kvanefjeld. It was a naturally-air conditioned 65 degrees F. and remained nice all that day and night. We didn't know how lucky we were! Was the old Norse weather god Thor actually helping us, as I had tried to arrange? If so, he quickly turned against us. The weather turned bad the next day and stayed that way the entire trip.
