Mars, Pink Floyd and me

I informally titled one of my 2001 Mars Odyssey images "On A Trip To Cirrus Minor" after a 1969 Pink Floyd song I was listening to while creating it. The title has now shown up on Wikipedia. "Cirrus Minor" sounded very much like Syrtis Major, the famous dark area on Mars behind the antenna dish in the image. "Cirrus"also evoked the cloud cover over Hellas Basin in my image, see the lithograph. "On A Trip To Cirrus Minor" fit perfectly.

I was prompted to create this commemorative poster after discovering that my image was on the cover of the Odyssey Transport Operations manual seen in the upper right image. NASA had also my pic for an official lithograph given out to the media and for various other purposes. The image was the best available of Mars Odyssey for a while and it was included in a JPL Night display at the Hollywood Bowl, see poster wall image below.
