Ebenezer Waste, Jr.

Birth: Oct. 20, 1801 in Somerset, Windham County, Vermont

Death: at his home on the old farm near Wilmington, Vermont, June 17, 1878

 

Ebenezer Waste, Jr. was born on Oct. 20, 1801 in the wilds of Somerset, Windham County, Vermont. His father, Ebenezer Waste, senior, made his living there in those years as a trapper and hunter. In 1804 the family moved to a farm in Whitingham, also in Windham County.

Ebenezer, Jr. married Rebecca Fuller on Dec. 6, 1821 in Whitingham. They had two daughters and one son together. Rebecca Waste died on June 26, 1826.

He married Lucinda Gaut on April 9, 1829 in Whitingham. Ebenezer and Lucinda had three more children, a daughter and two sons.

Lucinda died on April 3, 1854. Ebenezer, Jr., died at his home on the old farm, June 17, 1878, aged 77.

Lucinda Gaut

Birth: about 1795, probably in Halifax,Windham County,Vermont
Death: April 3, 1854

 

Her father was Alexander Gaut, born May 5, 1770 in Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Her mother was Elizabeth Mixer, born 1774, probably in Peterboro, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.

Vermont Historical Gazetteer, a local History of all the Towns in the State, Civil, Educational, Biographical, Religious and Military. Vol. V. The Towns of Windham County.

"The family of Ebenezer Waste, Jr., consisted of three children, two daughters and one son, by his first wife.

Lydia Waste, born June 26, 1822, m. Dr. Reuben Green of Boston.

Amelia Waste, born May 5, 1824, m. Diodorus Sawyer, Sept. 1847; they lived on the old Waste homestead. She died March 17, 1884.

Charles Waste, born Nov. 15, 1825, married Hattie S. Warren of Whitingham.

Rebecca Fuller Waste, wife of Ebenezer, Jr., died at her home, June 26, 1826.

 

By his second wife, Ebenezer, Jr., had one daughter and two sons; the daughter married Lyman Stone of Royalston, Mass.

George E. Waste, married a lady in Boston, lives in San Francisco, Cal.

Lewis Sanford Waste went to Michigan, married there, has one or more children.

Ebenezer, Jr., died at his home on the old farm, June 17, 1878, aged 77.

Lucinda Waste, second wife of Ebenezer, Jr., died April 3, 1854."

 

Children of Ebenezer and Rebecca Waste

Lydia Waste, born June 26, 1822. Lydia married Dr. Reuben Greene of Boston. They had a son named Charles Reuben Green in 1848 while living in Fowler, Ohio. Their next two children, sons Frank Eugene and Jareb Alonzo Greene, were born back at Sadawga, in Windham County, Vermont.
Amelia Waste, born May 5, 1824. She married Diodorus Sawyer on Sept. 1847. They lived on the old Waste homestead. They had a daughter named Alice C. Sawyer, born July 17, 1857 in Whitingham, Vermont. She died March 17, 1884.

Charles Waste, born Nov. 15, 1825. He married Hattie S. Warren of Whitingham. Their son Charles H. Waste was born on Feb. 22, 1852.

A daughter - she married Lyman Stone of Royalston, Mass.
George E. Waste, born about 1839. He married Mary Louisa Bowers on June 19, 1871 in Boston, Massachusetts. Mary was born in 1853 in Dracut, Mass. Later they lived in San Francisco, California.
Lewis Sanford Waste went to Michigan, married there, had one or more children.
